January Lingerie Review

Lingerie, we all wear it whether it is our day to day comfies that stretch from our knees to our armpits or those certain sets that send the menfolk wild. I am a lover of all lingerie but especially beautiful garments that I can wear in photo shoots. There are several retro lingerie companies around the world but the USA boasts one that puts the cherry on the cake. Unbelievably I have had the pleasure to review them and boy, it sure is a pleasure!

After receiving a large box in the post I eagerly opened it up to be greeted with tons of neatly wrapped items. I carefully put them into several piles: Pink, Blue, Leopard Print, Night Gowns, Pyjamas and Stockings. As I opened up the first garment that caught my eye I read the beautiful label "Secrets in Lace". Surprisingly, as it is the most covered, the Tailored Bettie Pyjamas was my first choice. I opened them up expecting some good quality nightwear but was surprised to find the quality unquestionable. It by far surpassed my expectation for something I would lounge around the house in. From the actual print of the material, I'm quite fussy with my leopard print, to the silky smooth 100% nylon fabric they had used. I am now pleased to find that I can be a bombshell around my home without having to wear my stockings and suspenders at all times, although, with the other items I received from Secrets in Lace I think I will have to wear several sets all at once AND the pyjamas on top!

My favourite colour has got to be Blue so choosing the Bettie Blue Collection was a no brainer. The garments are beautifully made from soft charmeause with a little bit of stretch and adored with beautiful lace. For this photo I teamed it up with the Bettie Blue Plunge Bra and Bettie Blue Full Cut Panty. The Plunge Bra actually has a sheer panel that folds up for added coverage if needed, I have shot it with it down as I felt it brought a playful feel to the photo and the shape that both the Plunge Bra and Panty gave me was amazing, even if I do say so myself.

I’ll keep this one brief, see what I did there? All of the briefs have a similar shape to them. The actual cut of the brief is unlike anything I have shot in underwear wise. The majority of high waisted briefs seem to be control ones nowadays, well these certainly brought the sexy back. Think high waisted bloomers with a fitted bottom to hug your butt and give you a peachy shape, every girl needs a pair of these in her drawers!

For this shot I wore the Bettie Pink Bullet Bra, Lace Applique Full Brief and Bettie Pink Beaded Waist Cincher teamed up with some equisite Bettie Page Glamour Heel Nylon Stockings. I adored the whole outfit but the girdle, I have never seen anything like it! Lightly boned and with a slight pinch on the waist to really emphasise your curves, it really enhanced my hourglass shape. The Bullet Bra itself was a little large on the back for me, however, once I placed in the padded cones it fitted like a dream and gave an amazing point to my bust, so much that I even wore it underneath a jumper for my Christmas pictures.

Back to the Leopard Print, I have always been a fan but I am such a fusspot, as mentioned above, when it comes to the pattern of the actual animal print. With the Bettie Leopard Collection I wouldn't change a thing. In the photos I am wearing the Bettie Red Leopard Plunge (with the sheer coverage panel down) and the Bettie Leopard Panty in both, then the Bettie Ruffle Leopard Garter to hold up the Bettie Page Glamour Heel Nylon Stockings. Personally I dislike wearing bras day to day but the Bettie Plunge Bra has changed my feelings on this, I think I may need several of them so I can wear it 24/7!

Finally we come to the last photo from this part of the review and I am really quite excited by this one. I am wearing the Ostrisch Trimmed Chiffon Robe. You can see by the photo that is has made me feel every inch the glamourous minx that it is intended too. The feel of the robe is beautiful against your skin and I was extremly impressed that the Ostrisch Trim is removable for cleaning, they really do think of everything at Secrets in Lace. I have worn many lingerie garments in my time but I can honestly say that Secrets in Lace will be my number one go to brand for Photoshoots and day to day lingerie.

Photographer Spotlight - November - Claire Seville

Claire Seville is an internationally published photographer, specialising in photography for Bad Girls and as Bizarre Magazine so perfectly put it; 'Whether you're a professional or aspiring alt.model - or you just want to see what it feels like to strut your stuff in front of the camera - Birarre's new favourite photographer, Claire Seville, can help you live out your wildest fantasies'. I have personally had the honour of working with Claire on numerous occasions for companies and our own projects so it was only fitting I pinned her down, tied her up and interrogated her with some questions ...

Aloha Claire, you awesome beaut of awesomeness. Thanks for taking the time to answer my ramblings. I guess we should start off with an introduction, can you tell these lovelies a little about yourself?
Well I'm suppose I'm what you would call an alternative portrait photographer, I love what I do and couldn't imagine doing anything else!

Your tagline is "Photography for Bad Girls" would you say you're a Good or Bad girl?
Definitely bad, as named by my Mother, I'm the original wild child!

Not only do you shoot international models but you have the knack of bringing out the temptress in your clients too, what's your three top tips you can give these lovelies to bring out their inner Bad Girl?
1. Book a shoot with me! Ha!
2. Let me make you feel totally amazing!
3. Let me take you to the dark side!!!

Your 2014 Calendar "PinUp Monsters" is selling like hot cakes, what made you choose to do the Calendar and will there be a 2015 one?
The pinup monsters were for an exhibition I was part of, as there was 12 monsters it seemed silly not to do a calendar! Who wouldn't want a load of smoking hot spooks on the wall?

You've now had TWO, not one but TWO features in Bizarre Magazine, how did you feel when you first saw your work in there?
I was over the moon, it's my fav alt mag so a real honour to have been featured twice!

What would be your dream shoot, no expense spared?
Now that would be telling lol

How did you first get into Photography?
I first became interested when my daughter was born, she was so beautiful I wanted to capture as much as I could! But shooting alt models and lovely clients is my passion.

Any last words?
Thanks for having me, always a pleasure with you Miss SINderlla Rockafella xxx

Musical interest.

This evening I'm feeling very musically motivated. As I'm typing my Husband is sitting here playing "Duelling Banjos" after we've just had a sing off to some tunes on YouTube. I'm in no way musically talented but he sure is, you can check out his talents over on the Ten Bob Millionaires Facebook page.

Music is where everything starts for me, if I wasn't into 1950's Rock 'n' Roll, Rockabilly and DooWop I would never have started Pin-Up Modelling and dare say would never have modelled at all.

I feel very proud to be part of a scene that is truly passionate about what they love although I would not label myself as a Rockabilly as DooWop is my first love and music is much more than a fashion statement. I used to be what is known as a purist, even the thought of listening to Psychobilly would have made my toes curl, I can remembering telling my friends Garon and Brett repetitively that "I don't like that, it's shit!" let alone diversifying into Ska, Punk and Surf. In fact, I would never have met my Husband if it wasn't for sneaking out to a Psychobilly gig in Leicester! My Husband loves a wide genre of music and thanks to him he broadened my mind to other genres but still along the same style.

I have been brought up on 1950's music and lifestyle and I couldn't imagine living my life any other way. I don't dress vintage 24/7, far from it, I adore my onesies and slouching in my jersey and leggings and it really isn't practical for myself as I travel far too often and don't want to risk damage to certain items but I do keep the music in my heart and soul always, something that will never change. Music has made me what I am today.

Talking about DooWop have a giggle at this video from last years Rhythm Riot. I was only just saying a few hours prior how embarrassing it is to see girls up on stage, then I got picked up and put on stage with The Cleftones. I'm rather glad I did even if my face did go a brighter shade of red than my lipstick.

Barefaced.

I have been asked quite a few times what I use on my face when I'm not wearing make-up. I don't pop a lot of products on my face because I have sensitive skin and I'm too lazy. My three top tips for skin care are as follows;

1) Pears Soap

I cannot express my love enough for this, it's great to clean off all your make-up, doesn't clog into your pores and gives you a wonderfully smooth finish to your skin. I lather up, wash everything off (with my hands not with a flannel or wipes) and then rinse with cold water.

2) Tea Tree / Witch Hazel

Once I have thoroughly cleaned my face I then grab a cotton wool pad and either use the Tea Tree Oil (slightly watered down) or Witch Hazel all over my face, neck, back and chest.

3) Sudocrem / Cold Cream
Once my face has dried and before I go to sleep I alternate nightly between smothering my face in Sudocrem and Cold Cream. My pillow and Husband's chest don't appreciate but my skin sure does when I wake up first thing in the morning!

It may seem like a bit of a fafth but I've always found the above works better than the old Cleanse, Tone, Moisturise with expensive products as my skin always breaks out rashy afterwards. I'd love to know if it works for you lovelies too!

Social Networking.

As most of you know the majority of my work is posted on Facebook but I also post more personal photos and behind the scenes snapshots on Twitter and Instagram. In the past I have done some YouTube tutorials on hair and make-up and this is something I would like to do more of alongside some clothing / lingerie reviews! All the above links are clickable so make sure you take a look and follow to keep up to date with some more of my t'internet ramblings.

Where it all started ...

After my quick post last night I thought I should deliver something a little more substantial for you lovelies to read but where to start? I guess the beginning is as good as any. For those that have read my interviews you will know that I had my first photoshoot when I was 15, for those of you that don't you do now.

Whilst I was at a Rockabilly gig at Dingwalls, Camden a gentleman came up to me and asked if I would be interested in having a photoshoot done for a magazine, I excitedly ran to find my Ma and Pa to let them know. My Pa seemed disgruntled but walked with me to where the gentleman was standing just as my Pa looked like he was going to lamp him one straight on the snotbox the gentleman pulled out some business cards and ID. After they had spoken for a short while my Pa told me that they would be coming over to our home and taking some photos and would be in touch shortly. Several other people were approached at the gig to do the same photoshoot along with my boyfriend at the time but due to them living in London and us over in the West Midlands it was to be done separately.

I never thought much would come from it, my parents didn't expect anyone to turn up but when they did we were extremely surprised to see that the photos were for Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen and to be published in Amelia's Magazine. A MUA did my hair and make-up (I asked if I could have some faux "Bettie Bangs" as I was contemplating cutting some in!) and I got to shoot in the most adorable baby blue two piece from Vivenne Westwood and then a stripped top from McQ. We shot in my Pa's record room and later found out that the other people chosen shot at a Bowling Alley in London.

Vivienne Westwood.

Alexander McQueen.

I didn't do anything else modelling wise until I was then 18 and did a little photoshoot with Nicole at The Hourglass. After that shoot I posted the images online and as they say ... it started from there and now I'm apparently a Pin-Up.

A little outtake snapshot I got to keep, taken on film.
